- Circularity and Resource Efficiency of Food Systems: 22 May 2019
SAFE member National R&D Institute for Food Bioresources, IBA in Romania is organising this conference which will take place under the Romanian presidency of the European Union.
The intention is to create a supportive environment for establishing new collaborations in the field of agri-food research that share the same ideas as the Food 2030 initiative.
The main aim of the event is to raise awareness about sustainable production and consumption, to minimize food waste and to transform agrofood by products and residues into new raw materials for different purposes with an environmentally friendly approach.

- Global Food Safety Summit. 2-3 Sept 2019
Managing a safe and secure global food supply chain from farm to fork!As in previous years, this event will bring together key stakeholders from all along several food chains including manufacturers, suppliers, regulators and the experts that support them. Highlights of the event will include case study experiences. Networking opportunities will be plentiful as representatives from major food and beverage producers, suppliers and retailers participate.

- INCREaSE 2019: 9-11 Oct 2019
SAFE consortium will participate in the International Congress on Engineering and Sustainability in the XXIst Century to be held at the University of Algarve in Faro PT from 8-11 October 2019.
The SAFE Secretary General, Katherine M Flynn, is a member of the Scientific Committee.

The upcoming 2018 meetings of the SAFE consortium Executive Board will be by teleconference in
TUESDAY 19 June at 15H CET
Log in as a SAFE member to download the Agenda and the Minutes of all SAFE EB meetings. Also available are the Agenda and the Minutes of all SAFE Member Meetings, including the Annual General Meetings. Once logged in, these documents become visible as a separate article in Past Events.

SAFE Session on Food Safety at EuroFoodChem Congress - May 2013
The 17th annual EuroFoodChem Congress
took place 7-10 May 2013 in Istanbul Turkey
The SAFE consortium Special Session on Food Safety was a 2 and 1/2 hour parallel session with a plenary and three short oral presentations.

The EuroFoodChem event is considered fundamental for improving dissemination of food quality and food safety science. SAFE consortium is one among several EU-based organizations and Networks of Excellence that are supporting this event.
The Special Session on Food Safety has invited abstracts on the following topics:
- new hyphenated/comprehensive/advanced analytical approaches useful to assure food safety
- fish contaminants
- toxins from algae/microalgae
- biogenic amines and pseudo-allergic reactions
- heavy metals in foods
- DNA analysis: quality and safety of food stuffs
- environmental contaminants & pesticide residues
- new microbial emerging risks / microbial toxins
Procedure for Abstract Selection:
The Executive Board will select the SAFE Speakers using an on-line procedure and considering both the scientific content and the representative value of the presentation among the “SAFE” themes.
Starting 10th April 2013, the Executive Board will notifly authors if their presentation has been accepted and the complete Program for the SAFE consortium Special Session on Food Safety will be sent to the Scientific Committee of Eurofoodchem. Finally, authors will receive an official confirmation from the Turkish organization.
All accepted speakers must register for the Congress: the SAFE Executive Board is now discussing a possible fee reduction with the EuroFoodChem Organizing Committee. Authors will be kept informed.
SAFE members are strongly encouraged to participate in this event. It will be extremely useful for disseminating our European Association of Food Safety, SAFE consortium worldwide. Also, considering that many SAFE members are probably already "regular" participants at the Congress, it is not a large task.
SAFE is growing both from the scientific and public point of views: all the Members are called on to participate in this strategic action useful for our EU Network as well as for each single SAFE Member Institution.

The Special Session on Food Safety is organized by SAFE member DFB (Drug & Food Biotechnology Center).
