  • Circularity and Resource Efficiency of Food Systems: 22 May 2019

    SAFE member National R&D Institute for Food Bioresources, IBA in Romania is organising this conference which will take place under the Romanian presidency of the European Union.

    The intention is to create a supportive environment for establishing new collaborations in the field of agri-food research that share the same ideas as the Food 2030 initiative.

    The main aim of the event is to raise awareness about sustainable production and consumption, to minimize food waste and to transform agrofood by products and residues into new raw materials for different purposes with an environmentally friendly approach.

  • Global Food Safety Summit. 2-3 Sept 2019

    Managing a safe and secure global food supply chain from farm to fork!

    As in previous years, this event will bring together key stakeholders from all along several food chains including manufacturers, suppliers, regulators and the experts that support them. Highlights of the event will include case study experiences. Networking opportunities will be plentiful as representatives from major food and beverage producers, suppliers and retailers participate.

  • INCREaSE 2019: 9-11 Oct 2019

    SAFE consortium will participate in the International Congress on Engineering and Sustainability in the XXIst Century to be held at the University of Algarve in Faro PT from 8-11 October 2019.

    The SAFE Secretary General, Katherine M Flynn, is a member of the Scientific Committee.

  • SAFE Executive Board and Member Meetings 2019

    The upcoming 2018 meetings of the SAFE consortium Executive Board will be by teleconference in

    TUESDAY 19 June at 15H CET

    Log in as a SAFE member to download the Agenda and the Minutes of all SAFE EB meetings. Also available are the Agenda and the Minutes of all SAFE Member Meetings, including the Annual General Meetings. Once logged in, these documents become visible as a separate article in Past Events.

    If your institution is a SAFE member but you don't have a User Name and Password - send an email to Katherine Flynn with your 3 food safety interests and you will be registered.

Food Institute of KTU (Lithuania)

The Food Institute of Kaunas University of Technology (FI-KTU) is a research institution established in 1958 to conduct internationally recognized food science and technology research as well as to serve the food industry.

FI-KTU consists of sensory, microbiology, chemistry and technology laboratories, and Food Research Center (LST EN ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, scope: physical chemical and microbiological research of food products).

The research at Food Institute ranges from food microbiology including genomics, food chemistry, food analysis to technological functionality and wholesomeness, sustainable food processing technology, exploratory data analysis to sensory quality and consumer perception.

The main research infrastructure covers Liquid / gas chromatography, PCR amplification and DNA pyrosequencing analytic equipment.

Food Institute of Kaunas University of Technology has been a SAFE member since January 2018.

Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences of SUA Nitra (Slovak Republic)

The Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences (FBFS-SUA) is one of the 6 faculties of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra in Slovak Republic.

The Faculty was established in 2002 and launched its activities on January 1 2003. This young but progressive Faculty is dedicated to educate qualified  experts specialized to understand and manage biological, chemical, technological and economic sciences focused on modern processes of food production, evaluation and processing as well as specific biotechnological products. The main goal is to achieve the biological and technological integrity of the „agricultural product - food system.“

Research tasks at the FBFS-SUA are performed in 3 fields:

  • Food Sciences
  • Agrobiotechnology
  • Applied Biology

The Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences (FBFS) of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra has been a member of SAFE consortium since January 2018.

Institute of Life Technologies of Hes-so Valais-Wallis (Switzerland)

The Institute of Life Technologies is part of the School of Engineering of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland Valais (ILT-HES-SO Valais-Wallis).

Our activities include applied research and development (aR&D), services and continuing education courses. Our partners are SMEs and multinationals from the pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, food, cosmetic and chemical industry sectors.

Institute of Marine Research (Norway)

The Institute of Marine Research (IMR) is the biggest research institute of its kind in Europe, with over 1,000 employees. Our main activities are research, advisory work and monitoring. In January 2018, the IMR was merged with NIFES – The National Institute of Nutrition and Seafood Research. The activity linked to research on fish nutrition and the effects of fish and seafood consumption on our health are continued in the new institute.

Norwegian Veterinary Institute (Norway)

 

 

The Norwegian Veterinary Institute is a national biomedical research institute, funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries and the Norwegian Research Council to provide independent, research-based advisory support to the governing authorities in the fields of terrestrial and aquatic animal health and food safety.

The Norwegian Veterinary Institute has been a member of the SAFE consortium since the last quarter of 2015.
